Shame he never showed up in stores for most of us and therefore sold out fast online. Hopefully he gets repacked.

I really thought about it as my pick for Legacy, but the lack of Mini-Con and tacked on base mode made it just come up short. Excellent toy though.Overcracker wrote:Armada Prime is definitely the highlight of the year.

Why do you hate SS86 Snarl so much? o.O What has he done so wrong in your book that you kicked him to the bottom of the list?D-Maximal_Primal wrote:Nemesis Destron wrote:Hey WJ, how about a "Worst" of in 2023 as only you can...?![]()
Worst overall: SS86 Snarl
Now this one, I get. I find him alright, and would personally give the "worst Legacy toy" spot to the Putzwing reissue nobody asked for (for being a reissue nobody asked for and clogging other figures from getting shelved), but he's definitely not great (even more a pale shadow of the original than Kingdom Primal) and has some odd changes compared to the original (although at least unlike Armada Megs he has shoulder rotation).D-Maximal_Primal wrote:Worst Legacy toy: Lio Convoy
Ah yes, that's going to be "fun". My personal "least looking forward to" however is Titan Tidal Wave.D-Maximal_Primal wrote:Least looking forward to next year: having to wonder how I will get a SS Hatchet
I really don't understand the Snarl hate either. Did folks forget what G1 Snarl looks like when setting their expectations for that figure? I just don't get it. Snarl is fantastic. Not perfect, but I really like it.ZeldaTheSwordsman wrote:Why do you hate SS86 Snarl so much? o.O What has he done so wrong in your book that you kicked him to the bottom of the list?D-Maximal_Primal wrote:Nemesis Destron wrote:Hey WJ, how about a "Worst" of in 2023 as only you can...?![]()

Also, once all those people got fired that was the worst of the year. Hasbro's reinvestment into profit instead of people is the m.o. for a publicly traded company and while I understand it, I don't have to like it.
Mmmm... Actually, in the cartoon itself the tail seems to usually be a decent length in dino mode.D-Maximal_Primal wrote:ScottyP wrote:I really don't understand the Snarl hate either. Snarl has a lot of problems as a G1 cartoon design, and as a new toy.
1) His cartoon look is missing 2/3 of the tail. Stego's have long tails after the tall back hips. Snarl literally has a bunny tail sticking out his butt. It looks hideous, always has, and it looks especially bad when it's this big.
A lot of that is kinda baked into the G1 Snarl design in general, especially if you want it to transform, and for my money I think he does a decent amount to ameliorate it compared to the original toy (which has so much gut overhang smaller figures can use his chest for an umbrella). Moreso than PotP managed.D-Maximal_Primal wrote:2) His robot mode proportions are all over the place. His arms, thighs, and waist all feel too small, while his torso is a cartoonish out of proportion size.
That, I'll agree on; I think PotP did better there. I would like it to be longer, and jointed so he can aim the spikes in dino mode.D-Maximal_Primal wrote:And the small tail really makes for pathetic back kibble.
I personally think he looks nice. Don't own Slug, but I do wish his tail had been dealt with the same way as PotP. Although at least unlike PotP he has his wings?D-Maximal_Primal wrote:He is just an eye-sore, like Slug, except worse.
I wouldn't say hilariously, I think it makes a decent shortsword for him. And I like that he can dip his wrists to point it.D-Maximal_Primal wrote:3) his sword is hilariously short, really does not match the robot size(s).
I feel like they did fix them as much as possible for a retail figure, while keeping him on par with the other SS86 Dinobots size-wise. And from what I've seen, even expensive not-MP figures seem to struggle with full fixing the proportions, so...D-Maximal_Primal wrote:I am more forgiving of the Core because it is only tiny, but a full on leader, I really wish they had tried to fix his proportions instead of highlighting them.
Ahhhhhhhh. It does hurt to see a favorite butchered. I feel some of the butchery is kinda baked into the G1 design (both in the outdated dino image and in the basic transformation layout), but that probably doesn't do much for your pain.D-Maximal_Primal wrote:Also, Stegosaurs are my favorite dinosaur, so it extra hurts to see one butchered this badly.
FoC doesn't really count, because the FoC design has never been rendered by HasTak as a transforming toy. The Cyberverse cartoon design looks nice, but do you really feel the toy did him right? I mean, I guess the stegosaurus mode is done well, but the robot mode doesn't live up to the on-screen version. AoE, I'll give you.D-Maximal_Primal wrote:Let me put it this way: Fall of Cybertron and Cyberverse did him right, especially FOC. AOE also kinda did him right by the stego and robot designs as well, minus the obvious wonky robot arm-ticulation.
Does he really, for a more directly G1 version? Aside from the tail, I feel like he improves the proportions a lot compared to both the original toy and the Power of the Primes one.D-Maximal_Primal wrote:SS86 Snarl very clearly takes many steps back,
Aside from the tail (which is disappointing), it's no more "butchered" than Grimlock or Sludge, and is also the most articulated it's ever been by a country mile.D-Maximal_Primal wrote:butchers the Stego mode
He's not as imposing as he'd be with a full-sized tail, but "wonky generic" is going way too far IMO; I think he's still got plenty of presence.D-Maximal_Primal wrote:and just does not have the presence, feeling more wonky generic than stego brute.
