It's unknown if these photos are of a slightly-unpainted prototype (hence the black faceplate) or not, but it is the first official look of the figure we've ever gotten.

That alt mode is amazing. Flintlock looks great sitting in there.

This sighting was reported by our own Megatronus, though the actual source of the pictures is still anonymous. With all the combiner wars box sets making their way to Ross, guess it was only a short time before the big titan on the block made his way over there. Check out the images below, and head on out to your local Ross to hunt down a Fortress of Maximus!

so who else is left? Maybe a new arcee? Bit larger than the previous release which is very good but seeing she was originally a headmaster (in american continuity), it would make sense for her to have a new toy...
misfire and slugslinger would be obvious choices since they seem to be relatively easy to retool from existing TR moulds...

COME ON VOYAGER CLASS RODIMUS PRIME!

At least Kup looks pretty good. I'm not keen on his hands being visible in alt mode but they're not too visible.

yep he's sorely missing from the line up and this cup could pass off for a rodimus cab... he'd have to be a voyager at least though

The other Targetmasters too; Crosshairs, Sureshot and Pointblank. Also Twin Twist considering we already have Topspin.
This Kup looks INCREDIBLE... at least, the mold does. The Vehicle Mode is a perfect update to make the old weird-looking thing good, and the robot mode is very well proportioned and has those freakin' incredible guns. And I'm sure people can put to rest the idea he's somehow a retool of Blurr. Though I'm sure there'll be some...
Though have some have said... yeaaaah, those colours are not nice. Much as one can criticise Takara for going too far with cartoon accuracy and some of their figures looking bad as a result, this is a case of Hasbro's toy accuracy doing the same thing. I get what they're going for, but it doesn't look nice. I'd be waiting for Takara not because I care about accuracy but because I want a decent-looking colour scheme.
... on a side note, anyone else think this would make an awesome Ironhide? Late-wave redecoes go!

That robot mode, though. I dunno. I don't know why I'm meh on it. Takara will likely do better.
Makes me really wish Arcee was a Headmaster. And Sunstreaker too, really. Out of everyone why are they left out?

I know! It's like when we get a brand new reveal of something new, and everyone starts the, "It could be repainted as this or that", routine before we've had a chance to absorb the new thing.Kurona wrote:Oh true, I totally agree - it just irks me when everyone immediately says redeco or retool about literally any new figure revealed.

Just teasing you K!
I agree that this bot mode doesn't look super awesome, but we'll see. Those scans of those photos aren't great. Might be playing foul with the colors a bit. I'd like a closer look at the head sculpt.
I'll buy it anyway. I'm a junky.

Carnivius_Prime wrote:Kup's vehicle mode is a nice update. Robot mode not so much. Guns once again ruined by the Titan Master seating gap.
I never really see the issue with guns. If they are on 5mm ports, we can use any other gun we want with him. And we can just use this gun on a battle station or as a sidecar.
I am really impressed with that alt mode, I did not expect it. It is ultra G1, with a very flat backside. I am wondering where all that back part goes since bothe the legs and arms are in the front. And while I dont like the visible hands (especially when the arms are hollow for them to fold into), the fact that they are of a uniform colour do help them blend in.
Anyways, this is another figure I am looking forward to!

That's why the arms and shoulders are so boxy.
And that's why the toy-based colors look even more odd on that mold than the should. They put toy-based colors on a Kup whose body design is based on one whose colors were more cartoon-based than anything.

Ah great, a fan. I was looking for one of you. I read it and was confused. How was Optimus fine all of a sudden when the autobots looked so hopeless and Optimus looked totally destroyed from the begining?

Probably the same power that Ultra Magnus used in one of the Final issues in MTMTE to be blown apart in one panel, and be fine in the next .

It probably isn't due to any other company having the name, but due to the name possibly being too generic/common/ordinary a word to Trademark. Even if it's spelled with a K, the Trademark laws might deem that to be not enough to differentiate it from the normal C-spelled version of the word.o.supreme wrote:Also there's the whole "Sergeant" Kup moniker which started a few years back. Why cant he just be plain old Kup? I cant imagine with that spelling someone else would have that trademarked.

With both of those and that new Drift figure using his old design I can't say I enjoy the idea of continuing influence from AHM...

I know you are kidding around, but I was quite serious, since its a big issue I had. MTMTE was tongue in cheek. It was one moment in one issue and the whole deal wth Ultra Magnus is that he's actually a little guy so he can blow up his giant suit, its not him. But all of AHM lingered on Prime being out of the fight. Who can stop Megatron if Prime cant? That goes on for the entire series until the penultimate issue when Prime rallies up his gang and goes to beat him up. And i was just like "wait, how is Prime ok?". The entire series until that point now felt totally wasted since him being out of the picture was pointless. "who can defeat Megaron when Optimus Prime is out of the picture?" The answer is "Optimus Prime".

Looks like Hasbro and TakaraTomy are still up to their old ways, by releasing the inaccurate deco through Hasbro. Then, the accurate version will be released by TT.

Its not always bad. Sometimes Hasbro does somethign really interesting. Like with Dragstrip. And as for Skylynx, its not like Takara really improved anything there. And Weirdwolf's Hasbro deco is awesome!

In Kup's defense, his Guidi design has superseded its original AHM use to continue on into more recent works, such as MTMTE (circa Dark Cybertron):Kurona wrote:Sabrblade wrote:It just hit me why the sculpt of this new Kup mold looks so off and blocky. Takara's really won't be that accurate if they give it a slavishly cartoon-based color layout, since the body design is an IDW-based one.thedistinctroom wrote:Here we go again.

But then again, they did go IDW-accurate for both Ultra Magnus and Skids, so who knows?

Oh true; and the same goes for Perceptor (which I'm especially happy about for my MTMTE display). It's just a kneejerk reaction to the second worst IDW Transformers story I suppose
Though to be fair, the designs were arguably the best things to come out of AHM. That Devastator redesign was beast.

My apologies. truth be told I have not read it in a couple of years, though it is one of the few IDW stories of I have read more than once. If I go back and read it again I'll let you know. Honestly it must have been something I never noticed, because it never bothered me. It's just frustrating that so many fans hold the *all-great* MTMTE in high regard, for whatever reason, but when someone criticizes it, the excuse it "oh they were just clowning around". So You cant take anything in MTMTE seriously, so it is beyond criticism...?? that makes no sense, yet some fans feel free to criticize whatever came before.
Just looking at that pic however...I think fans are going to start getting paranoid and seeing AHM designs everywhere. I don't mind because I like it... but as is with everything else, some people blow things out of proportion.

I was asking because a lot of people (including me) mix up Kup with AoE Hound because of that dang bullet thing he chews on like Kup's IDW self.

I am sorry to others for going off topic, but I feel your pain Osupreme. I personally believe that its a flaw in and of itself with MTMTE. Sometimes being too tongue in cheek takes away from an issue. But it becomes a general criticism rather than just criticising a plot point. You end up either liking the writing or you dont, its more divisive. While with AHM you can choose to disect it or not, but the writing is formulaic enough to criticise.
Then again, its the same thing with the fast and furious films. They are literally beyond criticism to the point that reviews have nothing to do with their popularity.
