Seibertron's own Optimus Frimal has reported a very interesting response from Simon Furman on his blog site.

Right now, writing-wise, I’ve just finished up on the outline/overview for the next big story arc, and it’s NOT ‘Revelation.’ Boy I love to tease.

Furman has also revealed more tidbits of information about the Dead Universe, confirming, amongst other things that Nova Prime is Nemesis Prime.

Rest assured, there will be more of a rationale for the name change from Nova to Nemesis. It all centres around what the Dead Universe actually is (or was!). Lots more on that in 08 for sure.

The idea with Headmasters is you pretty much double up on reaction times and so forth. And everything’s heightened, sensory-wise. Guess it just makes for a more effective warrior.

Boldly they rode and well,
Into the jaws of Death,

Are you the next Transformers Cover Artist?

Well here's your chance. The masterminds behind the “Transformers: Mosaic,” in partnership with Chris Ryall, Publisher/Editor-in-Chief of IDW Publishing, are running a competition for all Transformers artists, which gives them the chance to be considered for providing a variant cover to an upcoming Transformers comic produced by IDW Publishing.
Excited yet? Good, you should be.

So how does it work?
Step 1: Email your full name to Next.Tf.Cover.Artist@gmail.com by the end of December, 2007.
Step 2: On the first of January 2008, you will be emailed the name of the Transformer you are to provide a "cover" for.
Step 3: You have until February first to submit your work.
Step 4: Once all entries are in, they will be divided into groups based on characters used.
Step 5: All entries will be displayed on the IDW forums ( http://forum.idwpublishing.com/viewforum.php?f=2) and voting will commence. Voting will be open for 2 weeks.
Step 6: Once voting is complete, the top 3 artists from each group will be contacted and given another character to prepare a cover for and another month to complete.
Step 7: The second round of entries will be posted on IDW forums and voting will once again be carried out.
Step 8: Once voting on the second round is complete, the names and contact details of the top three artists will be given to Chris Ryall, who will work through the final process.

Things you need to know.
1. There is no guarantee that this will lead to paid work for IDW
2. All work should be submitted in line-art only, no colors allowed.
3. Be creative, designs can either be classic or your own redesign.
4. Voting can only be done by members of the IDW forum, and yes, you can vote for yourself.

So, if you think you've got what it takes, step up and prove it!

Press release from our friends at IDW:

Transformers: Animated Rockets from the TV Screen to the
Comics Page

New graphic novels from IDW Publishing will capture the groundbreaking animated series in print

San Diego, CA (December 5, 2007)-When the new Transformers: Animated series hits the airwaves in 2008, the TV screen won't be the only place fans can check out the latest heroics of their favorite robots: IDW Publishing is adapting the stories to the printed page using state-of-the-art animation capture and scripts from the episodes themselves.

In the upcoming TV series, fans will meet entirely new versions of both the Autobots and Decepticons: Set in the future city of New Detroit, the Autobots become the celebrated heroes of the city, constantly on guard against the Decepticon threat.

"These stories are a brand-new telling of the Transformers saga," says Chris Ryall, IDW publisher and editor-in-chief. "The setting is on a future Earth, with a range of new characters, and some familiar faces as well, all updated for the 21st century and appealing to all ages."

Transformers: Animated Vol. 1 will hit shelves in January to coincide with the debut of the series, and will tell the story of the show's entire 70-minute pilot. Each subsequent volume will include two complete stand-alone episodes of the series.

Simon Furman has updated his Blog once again, this time with information pertaining to the upcoming Issue #8 of the Titan UK Transformers Magazine.

Issue #8 will deal with one of the questions many fans have asked since the Transformers Movie was released... What happened to Scorponok?

Another ’squeezed into a bit of dead space in the movie’ story, this one concerns the fate of Scorponok, last seen burrowing underground in an almightly hurry after the aerial barrage in Qatar. He’s been laying low since then, but when Ironhide and a Special Forces team (new characters, developed especially for the UK storyline) go looking they get a whole LOT more than they bargained for (and realise some things are better left buried). As with the previous Starscream story, this one gives a little more in the way of action/resolution to the movie itself, and provides Ironhide with a real workout (though not necessarily in the way you might think). Scorponok proves to be a much tougher character than his bio and onscreen appearance maybe suggests, and ties up something of loose end.

Furman has let slide who will be doing the art duties for the upcoming Spotlight: Grimlock. Marcelo Matere who has previously worked on Spotlight: Soundwave and on Titan UK #6 featuring Jazz, which is to be released on December 6th 2007.

Transformers: War Journal.

Art; Tom Parish, Casey Coller, Matt C. Adams, Shane Anderson, Richard Cookson, Stanley Chou, John Flores, Jon Stone, Stavros Kundromichalis & Jeremy Tiongson.
Colors; John-Paul Bove.
Letters; Bernie Lee.
Covers; Josh Burcham, Tom Parrish, Kent Lin.
Sketch Cover; Andrew Wildman.

Now that we've got your attention and let your minds stew over the picture, "Transformers: War Journal" is a full 22-page web comic created by Transformers fans that will be released on 31 st of December, 2007.

The one thing that the "Transformers: Mosaic" project has shown, is that when fans come together to achieve a shared vision, there is no limit to what can be accomplished. Allthough not directly linked to "Transformers: Mosaic", "Transformers: War Journal" is produced by some of its memebers and is kind of the next evolution to the project.

In "Transformers: War Journal", a group of Autobots are marooned on an alien planet fighting a loosing battle against a superior Decepticon force. The story focuses on the war's affect on the individual; what adversities they have to overcome, what responsibilities they have to bare and what sacrifices they have to make.

We'll be peeling away pieces of the above picture, both here and http://tf-war-journal.deviantart.com/ as well as releasing previews until the final release on New Years Eve.
